The 2004 season is fast approaching. Tammy and I are both eagerly anticipating our grand opening season.
The offseason had us marketing, planning, and working towards year number one. There was a lot of time spent on the internet, checking message boards. I (Greg) am a regular contributer to The Next Bite web site message forum, and the Just Fish Ontario fishing forum. Those two boards have some great information, check them out sometime. You will find a link to those sites on our Fishing Friends on the Web page.
Tammy and I attended fishing shows and seminars in the offseason. It was a great way to meet people, and learn some new tactics for the upcoming season. We met people like Pete Mania and John Gillespie, Jack Burns and Robb Kimm editors of Esox Angler Magazine just to name a few. A great bunch of guys with a wealth of fishing experience.
On the lodge side of things, we have purchased some new motors for our bush lakes. We picked up the new Briggs & Stratton 5hp 4 stroke motors. They are just the right size motors for smaller bush lakes. They will be easy enough to get in and out of the lakes, and reliable. We are also looking into purchasing a couple new boats, you can never have to many boats or motors.
For the cabins we purchased some new propane heaters for those cool nights. A couple new self contained water pumps, to give us running water in the cabins. We are leaving the hand pump in one of our cabins... you can choose which method you'd prefer.
We are building a new dock to add to the existing one. This dock will be placed right in front of one of the cabins, with the other dock being closer to our end of the camp.
When we get up to camp, we will build a new fish cleaning house with running water. It will make fish cleaning easier and will keep the cabins clean.
All in all this has been a busy offseason for us. To those who have already booked with us, we say thank you! Both Tammy and I are looking forward to meeting you this season.
