| Greetings and Thank you for visiting our website! As I write this it's the middle of April, tax season has come to a completion here in the US, and spring is here. I have been keeping track of the weather at Agate Bay Lodge, and it has been a warm spring there also. Amazing how weather can change from year to year. Last season it was a late ice-out (May 15), this year I believe the ice will be off the lake by May 1.... in fact could be even earlier if the weather holds up. Whats new for the upcoming season? First off, we have purchased a new generator for our camp this year. The last one was starting to go, so it was time for another before we were left powerless some day. Our new fish cleaning house is framed up, and we will finish the inside of it. A lot of work went into tearing down the old buildings and putting up the new. It will be very worth it, once we are done. We installed a couple propane heaters in two cabins, and they seem to be working out very well, for the occasional cool nights. We also have one cabin remaing that we need to gut, and fix up. We hope to get most of the work done early this season. On boats and equipment, we plan on adding electric trolling motors to our boats on Pagwachuan. This will allow people to troll quietly as they hook-up those nice walleye... like Jon did last summer. Beautiful 9lb walleye. Needless to say, he was pretty thrilled. And we were very thrilled for him. As we left last year in mid-October, the snow had started falling. In fact there was about 8 inches on the ground when we left. Winter sure did come early. But since we have an early spring I guess it all balances out. One off-season item of note, I had my first magazine article published this year. It is titled "North of Superior Pike". You will find it in Esox Angler Magazine, in their spring 2005 issue. Must say it was quite a thrill. Tammy was suprised by it, because I kept the fact that it was going to be published unknown. The cat was out of the bag when we met Pete Maina at the Milwaukee Musky show. He complimented me on the article... and Tammy said what article. We bought a few copies, so those of you coming up this year just might get a chance to read it. I do want to thank Jack Burns (Editor) and Rob Kimm (Assistant Editor), of Esox Angler Magazine for publishing the article. I look forward to more offerings in the future. Hey anyone catching a nice pike, getting a great picture, and releasing the fish, just might have their picture included with one of my future articles. No promises, but you never know. Last year Tammy got into making some jellies and pies. Some of our customers that were here on the right days got a chance to sample some of those items. Must say... and this is a totally unbiased opinion... they were incredible. The jellies were great, and the pies magnificant... One quick note of congrats goes to Ryan and Jen. They were with us last season, and are getting married this year. A tip of the hat and best wishes for a wonderful life together. Look forward to seeing you next season! We are really looking forward to kicking off 2005. We have a good number of groups coming up this season, and look forward to seeing some newly made friends and those that will be new this year. We still have some room left, so don't hesitate contacting us. For current information, once things get going, check our fishing report page. I will be doing weekly updates talking about fishing and other things going on in camp. I will outline what has been working, the weather conditions, water temps, and anything else I can think of. If there is something specific you as a reader would like to see, send a note and I will surely include it. All the best, Greg & Tammy Bolinski Agate Bay Lodge |
