Lets talk a little about what bush lakes are at Agate Bay Lodge.  Our bush lakes are uninhabited, smaller lakes that have a different structure than Pagwachuan Lake (our main base camp lake).  Being smaller lakes, they are easier to manage, you can fish a good portion of the lake in one day, and you will find fish concentrated into smaller areas.  From a structure and experience standpoint it gives you variety, and a way to work different types of lakes in one trip.  You will get the feel of a fly-in fishing trip, without the cost of a fly-in.  Our Bush lakes allow you to explore that sense of adventure...

One of our lakes has a number of small islands, with a flowage going through the lake into other lakes.  Ever see walleye come to the surface to feed, or even jump while chasing minnows.  Famous for sticking close to the bottom, you will see walleye take to the air in this lake.

Another of our bush lakes has one island, with a couple bays.  This lake has a good population of northern pike, in fact one afternoon we spent a couple hours casting for northern and caught over 40 fish (that was 1 fish landed, and realeased every 3 minutes), now talk about action.  This lake also holds some of the fattest walleye I have ever seen. They are so thick across the back, they look like footballs with fins.

Yet a different bush lake has a good population of perch.  It also contains some very nice sized northern.  We have a picture of one caught and released... still swimming and waiting for you to take that trip, and match your wits and abilities with her.

There are other lakes, the we have not yet visited, but will soon.  Maybe you would like to try a lake we have never been on yet.  You could be writing the next report for us telling of great successes, and showing the picture of the fish you caught and released. We can also point you to a brook trout stream... get ready to wade the stream, and fish a hole or two!

Despite what you may have experienced with other trips, when you stay at Agate Bay Lodge, you will find service is a key part of what we do.  You are on vacation, and we treat you that way.   If you decide that tomorrow, you'd like to visit Bush Lake "A", we won't hand you a map, give you a motor to throw over your shoulder, and say turn right out the driveway, and have a good time.  We will pick a time conveinient to you, load up the motor and our gear, have you follow in your vehicle, you will park your vehicle at the entry point, then we will take our gear and your gear into the bush lake (using an ATV and trailer), you will have a scenic walk to the landing area, we will help get you set-up, then discuss some of the better places to try.  We will then select a time for pick-up, when you return we'll help you unload, get all the gear back in the trailor, and you have the same scenic walk back out.  This is the type of experience you will really enjoy and remember for a long time.

Adding this type of variety to your trip makes each one memorable.   You might come across a lake that becomes a real favorite to you.  Go in catch your limit, have a shore lunch on one of the islands, explore, photograph and enjoy each of these day trips.  Close out the day with some catch and release fishing and you will have crammed a weeks worth of enjoyment into one day... and guess what... you still have the rest of the week to do it all over again.
